Update: Be sure to check out our latest post on infographics: Infographics Are Everywhere – Here’s How to Make Yours Go Viral.

I love a good infographic! After all, knowledge is power and the visualization of data makes absorbing information all the easier. Well-designed infographics have a way of pulling me into a subject I’d normally never care to know about. As a designer I can attest to the crazy amount of time it takes to make a compelling, useful infographic. I have to say I knew about many of the great links, resources and tools I’ve linked to here on this post before but I dug deep and found some new and exciting infographic tools that I’m willing to bet you haven’t seen before. Items 1-5 under the Data Visualization Tools and Software category are sufficiently capable of arming even a novice designer with the ability to produce a powerful infographic (though I’m sure experts will find them handy as well). In short, if you love infographics, data visualization and information design as much as I do, you’re going to love this post. As always, leave me a comment with your thoughts and suggestions!

    1. I second that! Amazing list! I’ve been sifting through a ton of these sources, but haven’t developed something near as comprehensive.

Btw, the image is awesome and very appropriate considering the topic. Unfortunately it’s not interactive :-/ Do you have a dataset so I could implement that?

Thanks again! I’ll definitely refer people this. Cheers!

  1. this is fabulous. i’m a teacher about to teach a unit in creating data visualizations, and while i have my own growing list of bookmarks, your up-to-date, large, and yet not totally overwhelming list is a great help.

  2. Hi Chris, This information, that too, in groups is awesome and terrific. In the last few months I was searching for something similar and this turned out to be gold.. terrific job. Don’t forget to keep this post up-to-date please. Cheers.

  6. May I suggest you include http://www.mapsmarker.com to the list of BI/Visualization tools? This WordPress plugin allows you to pin, organize & show your favorite places through OpenStreetMap/WMTS, Google Maps/Earth (KML), GeoJSON or Augmented-Reality browsers.

  12. Chris, is there any reason why you left out Dundas from this list? I would have thought that they would definitely be included considering their current dashboard platform and the fact that it was their old data visualization components that Microsoft acquired and included in VS 2010, RS 2008/R2, and Sharepoint. http://www.dundas.com

  15. Hi, Chris. Perhaps you’d consider adding Sentinel Visualizer (www.fmsasg.com) to your visualization list. It’s a pretty cool tool. If you want a trial and/or a 15-minute demo, let me know.

  16. Thank You ! I have been looking for some infographic sites recently and this has been a great help!

  17. I’m not a fan of Piktochart, even though I have a paid account. I feel they are cheating on their templates. What I mean is that many templates contain elements such as donut-charts that you cannot create or modify with the tools that come with Piktochart. This means that chart is just a static graphic that can only be used as it! I don’t think that is honest.

    1. Interesting. I have not used it personally, but I’m sure others will appreciate your feedback. Thanks for sharing.

  18. Fantastic list of resources! It would be great if you could add cityforward.org to your next article as part of the Data Visualization Tools & Software category.

  19. This is almost a very complete blog about the subject however I am still missing the tools. What are the common and best used tools to actually create an infographic? Is it Illustrator or what tools are out there to make the process simple without impacting negatively the end result? are there tools that specialize on creating infographics?

  20. Excellent! Great! You gave people a treasure indeed. Wow, it’s unbelievable, i’m looking for such tools to create my own infographics. In addition, I can help improve your post by suggesting a list of over 100 infographics galleries here: http://infographicssubmit.com/. Particularly, this site already sorted these galleries in terms of Page rank, so making people easy to navigate. In addition, you can also ask for their service that help submit your own infographics to about 25 galleries (totally manually and never use automatic softwares at all). Try it, good luck to everyone.
Again, thanks for your excellent post.

  22. […] Infographic Resources: Deciding which inforgraphic tool to use in your classroom is based (in my experience) on personal preference and school approval around privacy issues (do students have to register) and technology specs.  There are advantages to having students in a district use multiple, common (2-3) formats.  Here is a selection of infographic tools inspierd by the Daily Tekk’s 100 list. […]

  23. Wow those tools are really amazing and helpful! Info graphics has become nowadays really important and useful for branding and marketing purpose! The most best thing about it that it is easy to understand and easy to convey the message what we’re trying to make others understand!
