Sapling Signature Series minimal, ultra-thin, wooden wallet review

Regular readers will know that I’m always on the lookout for a better slim wallet. There are a lot of slim wallets to choose from out there and, surprisingly, there are plenty of factors to set them apart. Some strive to be the slimmest, the coolest-looking, made from the most interesting materials, the most unique in terms of features or functionality.

Which brings me to the Signature Series wallet from Sapling ($25). As you can see from the photo, it’s quite unique. Made from two pieces of wood and held together by a band, the Sapling wallet can store up to 8 cards comfortably. Carrying cash? Just strap it to the outside of the wallet. Easy. Minimal. Good looking.

The Sapling Wallet comes in three flavors: birch, cherry and walnut. You can also customize your wallet with a personalized engraving.

I’ve been testing the Sapling wallet for a little while now and here’s what I really like about it:

  1. It’s simple. There’s no pockets to lose anything in. It forces you to carry just what you need.
  2. It’s different. I’ve never seen anyone carrying a wallet that looks like this.
  3. It’s touch. Leather wallets are easy to scratch so they don’t stay nice and new for long. This wooden wallet holds up to everyday wear and tear much better.
