So you’re an aspiring audiophile. You want really, really good sound coming out of your headphones and you’ve got about $200 to spend. You won’t be able to afford top-of-the-line headphones, but that doesn’t mean your gonna be stuck with crappy sound (or style). I’ve arbitrarily picked 5 manufacturers that I felt would give this list a good balance of incredible sound and serious style. If incredible sound is what you are after, you cannot go wrong the Shure or Klipsch headphones I’ve selected below. If style is more your thing, you’re going to want to check out the Beats, Bose and Monster cans listed here.
While Bluetooth/wireless headphones are definitely making inroads, many music lovers still prefer wired cans because there is absolutely no delay or room for glitching. And if you’re looking for headphones that will allow you to take/make calls, most (if not all) listed here will do just that.
The Shure SRH840 headphones are “optimized for studio recording and critical listening” and while you may not be a recording artist, I’m sure you wouldn’t mind owning some headphones an artist might very well use while recording. These cans are also designed with comfort in mind. And the ear cups are replaceable meaning you can use this far, far into the future.
