The Top 50 Content Marketing Tools http://dailytekk.com/2014/02/20/the-top-50-content-marketing-tools/ http://dailytekk.com/2014/02/20/the-top-50-content-marketing-tools/#comments Thu, 20 Feb 2014 22:26:31 +0000 http://dailytekk.com/?p=10963 sponsoredcontenttools

This is #2050charity post #4.

If you want to rock it with a sponsored content campaign you’ve come to the right place. I’ve written sponsored content for big brands like Microsoft, eBay, HTC, Bose and more and these are some of the best content marketing tools and resources I’ve run across recently. Call it what you want: sponsored content, native advertising, branded content or influencer marketing. Whatever the name, sponsored content is taking over the web. Some sites, like BuzzFeed (pictured above), rely exclusively on native ads to generate revenue. “In-stream” advertorials are considered a highly effective means of reaching and engaging with valuable customers on their own terms because they work great with responsive design (will show up on any screen). They are harder to ignore than traditional ads (and less annoying because they usually offer more value to the reader). Tectonic shifts are taking place across the advertising landscape: brands are becoming publishers themselves and dollars are finding new homes accordingly.

If you are interested in sponsored content consultation or campaign creation, get in touch.

The Top 50 Subreddits (Anyone Will Love) http://dailytekk.com/2014/02/19/the-top-50-subreddits/ http://dailytekk.com/2014/02/19/the-top-50-subreddits/#comments Wed, 19 Feb 2014 22:44:08 +0000 http://dailytekk.com/?p=10882 reddit

This is #2050charity post #3.

Reddit calls itself the front page of the Internet for a good reason. Many of the most popular posts you see around the Internet (like on BuzzFeed) trace their roots to Reddit. It’s a machine that surfaces interesting content on all kinds of subjects. When I first checked Reddit.com out I thought… whoa, whats the big deal? I saw a lot of text and whitespace and didn’t hang around too long. It took me a couple of years to get back and check it out in earnest and I’m glad I did.

There are a gazillion subreddits to explore these topics and it can be tricky to find the ones you’ll really be interested in. Also, many subreddits have a very niche audience… but those I’ve gathered here should have a very broad appeal. I’ve purposefully left out some of the most popular subreddits because they are so well known it wouldn’t do any good posting links to them here. I’m talking about subreddits like r/IAmA (and AMA), r/askreddit, r/funny and r/gifs. So in this list I’ve gathered what I believe to be the best, most interesting subreddits (including some awesome tech subreddits since this is a tech site). Don’t get me wrong—there are plenty of additional subreddits worth checking out (as well as plenty more to miss); these just happen to be the ones I would recommend looking into. Even if you’re an old Reddit pro you’ll find something new here and a few old favorites. And for those of you who still haven’t gone straight to the source yet… this will be a good introduction for you. This entire list is basically SFW (safe for work) and any subreddit that contains anything but will be labeled as such. Let me know what favorites of yours I missed.

Today’s featured organization is Farm Sanctuary which is an American animal protection organization that acts as an advocate for farm animals (which are treated horribly 99% of the time). This is #2050charity post #1.

Think about this for a moment… if we didn’t have cameras on our phones, how would we get through the day? There are already plenty of ways to share photos (now there’s an understatement if I’ve ever typed one). There’s the obvious choices like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Flickr—and then there’s the ever-growing array of new apps and services striving to grab a piece of our camera rolls. Here I’ve gathered a list of what I consider the 50 best photo sharing, printing and organizing resources you probably (hopefully) haven’t heard of before. Without a doubt, there’s plenty of new photo tools to discover below.

Today’s featured organization is charity: water which brings clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. It’s being featured as part of DailyTekk’s #2050charity event where—for twenty days straight—we’re publishing a new top fifty post featuring cool and useful tech and Internet resources in an effort to raise awareness for awesome charities. The 100 Best, Most Interesting Blogs and Websites of 2014 http://dailytekk.com/2013/11/18/the-100-best-most-interesting-blogs-and-websites-of-2014-2/ http://dailytekk.com/2013/11/18/the-100-best-most-interesting-blogs-and-websites-of-2014-2/#comments Mon, 18 Nov 2013 10:00:43 +0000 http://dailytekk.com/?p=10060 100bmibw2014new

Welcome to the most awesome blog post you’re going to see all year. Yep, it’s the third installment in the super-popular annual series in which I document the sites I think you’ll want to spend a lot of time on in the coming year (below you’ll find a few highlights from recent years in case you missed out). I have one major rule: a site can only appear on this list once, so there are never any duplicates. Every year this list is 100% fresh. Every list also takes on a life of it’s own. The categories change, but the grading criteria remains the same: I look at design, content and that creative “x-factor” that sets a site apart from the pack. I hope at least 95% of these sites are new to you. There are a couple that I simply couldn’t believe I hadn’t included before. You’ll know which ones when you see them. Putting together this list each year is a lot of (fun) work that literally takes many months. As I run into interesting blogs and websites I save them in an Evernote file, slowly begin categorizing them, weed out sites that don’t belong, etc. Disclaimer: if you find something you don’t like in one (or more) of the sites below, sorry, but I’m simply not able to vet every piece of content produced by 100 sites. I’ve tried my best to keep this list in the category of safe to view at work. Finally, as you spend some time on this site it is my hope that you will come to view DailyTekk as one of your favorite sites as well. I work hard to publish fresh technology finds (hardware and software), interesting opinions, reviews, roundups and more. If that sounds interesting to you, please take a moment to add DailyTekk to your Flipboard or Digg Reader account, subscribe to email updates or follow on Twitter. Enjoy, and I’ll see you next year!
