I’m a huge sucker for smartphone and tablet charging stations—as are the readers of DailyTekk. Years ago I wrote 10+ ways to charge multiple iPads, iPhones and iPods at once and it remains one of the top 10 posts on DailyTekk day-in-and-day-out (in terms of traffic).
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been testing out the Bluelounge Sanctuary4 ($99.95), a highly-customizable multi-device charging station built to charge your devices as quickly as possible.
Sanctuary4 includes 4 USB ports which means you can charge up to 4 devices at once. I find that this is about the perfect amount for millennials like me. I’ve got 2 iPhones, an iPad and scads of other USB devices laying around the house. This lets me charge the phones, the iPad and another accessory or gadget all at the same time. And the thing is, my other accessories don’t need to be charged daily, like the Apple devices. For instance, my JBL Synchros S400BT headphones only need to be charged every other week.
I love that you can still use your iPad when it’s charging/resting on the Sanctuary4 thanks to the purpose-made iPad station near the back that has a little rail for the iPad to rest against and a cord opening that the lightning adapter can fit through.
Speed is important when it comes to charging. I—like you—don’t want to be tethered to a wall or power source any longer than needed. So I can appreciate the 4-amp charger included with the Sanctuary4.
I would call the very best feature of the Sanctuary4 it’s configurability. Depending on your devices, you can switch out cables to fit your current or changing needs. That said, it can be a slight pain swapping cords out.
In terms of looks I like the design alright but in all honesty I can’t say I like the Sanctuary4’s aesthetic better than that of the Blue Dot Juice Box charging station I recently reviewed, but functionally, the Sanctuary4 has it beat hands down.
If you’re a power-user with multiple devices to charge (especially from multiple manufacturers) and you need them charged, “like yesterday,” then the Bluelounge’s Sanctuary4 will be right up your alley.
