Kontest is a social marketing platform for community managers running marketing campaigns on facebook, the open web and mobile devices. Developed by two French guys, Sylvain Weber and Jacinthe Busson, Kontest competes in the crowded social marketing space with companies like Wildfire, Strutta and Involver.
Kontest is easy to use even for non-techies. Simply select a promotion type (sweepstakes, poll, photo contest, instant win or quiz), choose a gift, the rules will auto generate and then you’re ready to deploy. Built-in design tools help you easily customize the look of your contest. Kontest allows multiple users to manage each contest and since the service supports multiple languages it’s an ideal solution for large teams spanning the globe. I like the fact that you get detailed statistics and an exportable database once the contest is over (data visualization is where it’s at) and I like the automatic selection of winners as well.
The strengh of Kontest is using the new technologies like HTML 5 or CSS3 to create an evolving product. This is important because as the world of social media changes, as engagement points change, it’s best to have a product that is adaptable and isn’t stagnate. One thing I look for in a product like this is whether or not I will be able to use it for the long haul without having to switch to another service a couple of years down the road.
All said, Kontest looks like a solid solution. In the future, I think it would be great if they offered a small business solution and Twitter integration but for the time being, if you’re an enterprise marketer this is definitely worth a look.
