Technically the MOS is a magnetic cable organization system designed to compliment MacBooks, but it looks more like a dazzling sculpture. It’s one of those, “Why didn’t I think of that?” products that was successfully funded on Kickstarter. Greg Petersen, the co-creator of MOS, puts it like this: “It is such a simple idea that anyone can understand. When customers receive the product, it just works. It solves the cable problem in a beautiful way, which is something that, in my opinion, has never been done before.”

The MOS was designed to be aesthetically pleasing on top of being functional. The MOS was created out of a practical need. Greg explains, “Every morning I grab my Macbook Air off my desk to take to work. I used to get home and had to go fishing behind my desk to get the power cord that inevitably fell where it was hard to reach. There were plenty of solutions to solve that problem, but I wanted one that looked good, and utilized the MagSafe power connector. Having established the problem, we set out to solve it, always keeping in mind that this would be displayed on people’s desks.”

Though designed specifically to corral computer cables, the MOS is also capable of organizing other metal objects such as paper clips, keys, pens and scissors. If you prefer, the MOS can be mounted on the wall using the included 3M double-sided adhesive. You can order a MOS in one of three scratch-resistant finishes: black or white plastic and anodized aluminum. “We never actually planned on doing the Aluminum MOS,” says Greg, “There was a sample floating around the office which became very popular, but we didn’t think people would be willing to pay twice as much for an Aluminum MOS. The Aluminum MOS is now the revenue leader among the three different MOS.”

The MOS is more than just a cable organizer that looks good. It saves time and frustration and those are two things a lot of people are going to want to pay for. Once you see the MOS are going to want it. I know I did.
