Stashtag: A Social Media Startup Project from DailyTekk’s Founder

Hey, I’m Chris. I wrote this article and I’m also the founder and Editor of DailyTekk. Lets connect on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube. Check back daily!

I’m excited to announce a new project I have been working on today called Stashtag (view profile on AngelList). I am not going to say a whole lot about the intricate details just yet, but I can tell you a little bit about what it will do.

In short, Stashtag allows publishers (like DailyTekk) to facilitate a unified discussion around their posts and other online content. What does that mean? For instance, I create many posts on DailyTekk that get over 900 tweets. While that’s great for driving traffic to the site, it doesn’t do much for creating a discussion around each post on Twitter. Currently, people use Twitter to share links to the site, sometimes with a little comment that says something like, “WOW! Must read!” There’s no easy way for people to chat about an article on Twitter and keep track of the conversation.

If people could tweet using the same hashtag, instead of any hashtag they come up with off the top of their mind, this problem could be solved. Of course there’s a lot more to it (lot’s of API-interfacing, analytics-providing, number-crunching, smart-filtering stuff I won’t bore you with. So, Stashtag is a way to unify the fragmented (or not yet existent) conversations happening around certain subjects on Twitter.

There are so many cool things I’d love to tell you about Stashtag right now but I’ll have to wait a little bit longer to dive deeper. Suffice it to say, Stashtag will enable a lot of cool things to happen that were never possible before (either for consumers or content producers). If you’re a publisher, leave me a comment and let me know if you’d be interested in testing out the beta.
