The short version
- No accounts, no ads, no ad trackers, and we don't set cookies.
- The game, Your Desk and Daily Grind FM save on your device, in your browser. We never see it.
- Desk sync is optional and end-to-end encrypted: our server only holds scrambled data it can't read.
- If you contact us, we use what you send only to read it and reply.
- We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
1Who we are
DailyTekk (dailytekk.com) is run by Chris, the creator behind the DailyTekk YouTube channels. In this policy, "DailyTekk", "we" and "us" mean the site and the person who runs it. This policy covers dailytekk.com, including the Hey it's Chris game, Your Desk, Daily Grind FM, the other games and tools on the site, and the contact form.
2What stays on your device
Most of DailyTekk runs entirely in your browser. To remember things between visits, it uses your browser's own storage (localStorage, sessionStorage and, for voice notes, IndexedDB). That data lives on your device and is not sent to us.
- Games: progress, high scores, unlocks, settings and the like.
- Your Desk: your tasks, notes, habits, links, focus timer and daily log. Voice notes are saved in your browser's IndexedDB.
- Daily Grind FM: your mix, theme and visualizer choices.
- This visit only: a few short-lived settings, such as whether sound is muted, are kept in
sessionStorageand cleared when you close the tab.
Microphone
Your Desk's voice notes ask for microphone access only when you press record. Recordings stay on your device. They're never uploaded and never synced.
Deleting it
Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything above. Because we never had a copy, we can't restore it, so use Your Desk's backup option if your notes matter to you.
3Your Desk sync (optional)
If you turn on Sync devices in Your Desk, your desk is shared between your own devices without an account. Here's how it works:
- Your device creates a random pairing code (a 256-bit key). You move it to your other devices by typing it or scanning its QR code. In a pairing link, the code sits after the
#, a part of the address browsers never send to a server. - From that code, each device works out the same three things: which storage slot to use, an access token, and an encryption key. The code and the key never leave your devices.
- Before anything is uploaded, your desk is compressed and encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM).
- Our server stores only: the encrypted copy, a version number, when it was created, last changed and last used, and a one-way fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the access token, so it can check a device is allowed in. It cannot read your desk.
- Device names (like "Chrome on Mac") are stored inside the encrypted copy, not in the clear. Voice notes are not synced.
- While a device is open, it may keep a live connection to the server so changes show up quickly. Only version numbers and how many devices are connected travel over it.
Deleting it: "Forget this sync group" deletes the encrypted copy from the server straight away. A synced desk that isn't used for 180 days is deleted automatically. If you lose your pairing code and all of your devices, nobody (including us) can recover the synced data.
4When you contact us
The contact form is the one place where you give us personal information on purpose.
What we collect
- The topic you pick, your name, your email address and your message.
- Anything optional you add: for brand enquiries, your company, website, budget range and timeline; for bug reports, the page, your device and the steps.
- Which part of the site you came from (for example "desk" or "radio"), your browser's user-agent string (its name and version) and the time you sent it. These help with bug reports.
Why
To read your message, reply to you, fix the bugs you report, consider your ideas and, for brands, discuss a possible partnership. We don't add you to a mailing list and we don't use your message for anything else. You give your consent with the checkbox on the form, and you can withdraw it at any time (see your choices and rights).
How it's delivered and kept
Your message is sent to our inbox by email through Resend, an email delivery service. If email delivery isn't available, the message is held in a private store on our Cloudflare hosting (only the most recent 500 messages are kept) until we read it. We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and generally no longer than 24 months, unless we're working together and need records for longer.
Spam protection
To stop abuse without a third-party captcha, the form uses a hidden field that only bots fill in, a minimum time on the page, limits on length and links, and a per-connection rate limit. The rate limit uses a one-way fingerprint of your IP address held briefly in memory. Your IP address is not stored with your message.
5Analytics and logs
We don't use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or any tracker that follows you around the web. The game raises internal events (for example "a video was opened") that stay inside your browser to drive in-game reactions. They aren't sent to us.
If we measure traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies, local storage or fingerprinting. As our host, Cloudflare also processes standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We don't use that to identify you.
6Services we rely on
Fonts, music, sound and game art are served from dailytekk.com itself. A few outside services are involved, each under its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare hosts the site, delivers it worldwide, protects it, and stores encrypted desk sync data and contact form messages that couldn't be emailed.
- YouTube (Google): videos played on DailyTekk are embedded from
youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. When a video loads or plays, YouTube receives your IP address and may store information under Google's privacy policy. Video thumbnails load from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), which sees your IP address like any image request. Links to YouTube take you to youtube.com. - Resend delivers contact form messages to our inbox by email.
- OpenFreeMap supplies map tiles when you use a game with a map, such as Apple Trivia.
Links to other websites are not covered by this policy. Their own privacy policies apply.
8Children
DailyTekk is family-friendly, but it isn't directed at children under 13. The games and tools work without giving us any personal information. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, let us know and we'll delete it.
9We don't sell your data
We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We only share it with the services listed above so they can do their job for us, or if the law requires it.
10Security
The site is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers, desk sync is end-to-end encrypted, and contact messages are visible only to us. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum so there's little to lose.
11Your choices and rights
- On your device: you're in control. Clear this site's data in your browser at any time.
- Desk sync: stop syncing on a device, or use "Forget this sync group" to delete the server copy.
- Contact messages: you can ask to see, correct or delete what you sent us, or withdraw your consent.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or state laws in the US such as California's), you may have further rights, including to object to or restrict how we use your information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We'll honour reasonable requests wherever you live.
To make a request, use the contact form, choose "Other" and start your message with "Privacy request". To protect you, we'll answer at the email address you originally used. We aim to reply within 30 days.
12Where data is processed
Cloudflare and Resend operate internationally, so information may be processed in the United States and other countries. They provide safeguards for international transfers as described in their own policies.
13Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll say so clearly on this page.
14Questions
Ask anything about privacy through the contact form. A real person reads every message.
